The workshop was opened by the director of NORDA, Mr László Francsics with the following words: the ECTN is such a network which makes contact between the different regions in Europe among the experts of tourism and culture. Several countries represented themselves in the event: Italy, Wales, Spain, Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Latvia, Ireland.
Mr. Nigel Adams started the presentations by highlighting the importance of extending cultural tourism These kinds of seminars promote the exchange of experiences between the regions. More and more regions are interested in the Cultural Tourism Network which supports the economic caching up and development in the less developed areas.
The programme puts emphasis on the extension of its activity. New contacts have been made by the initiative of Wales Tourist Board with cultural tourism groups and created seminars where it is possible to exchange of experience and knowledge transfer to encourage economic growth by tourism development.
Mr. Vilmos Fedor vice mayor of Miskolc welcomed the guests on behalf of the citizens of Miskolc. He emphasized that the city can make itself known to the world by relying on tourism and its main tool is the culture which really can build towns but it requires new communication.
The presentations and workshop showed a very detailed picture of cultural tourism related to “creative culture, ethnic minority communities and development of cultural tourism”. The presentations focused on the specific areas of cultural tourism so we hope the workshop gives a professional part to the whole project and the actors of tourism sector related to our Network can use the information received from the Workshop |
